Despite James Dolan’s mandate to stay under the second apron, Clarkson’s re-signing is “still a possibility,” a source told The Post.

Clarkson, 34, will become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday after one eventful season with the Knicks, which ended with a championship but included erratic playing time.

Clarkson was pulled from the rotation midseason but impressed the Knicks with his professionalism, eventually earning his way back into a reserve role. Clarkson’s defense, in particular, kept him on the floor — a somewhat surprising development considering his longstanding reputation as a high-volume shooter and scorer.
