Fans were outraged Sunday morning after Chris Carter, the legendary host of KLOS’ Breakfast With The Beatles, announced the long-running Beatles show was losing an hour.

The revelation was made by Carter on air and immediately kickstarted a firestorm from fans of the radio staple.

“Beginning today Breakfast With The Beatles will air from 9am to 11am instead of 9am to 12pm.” Carter told his listeners, “You gotta understand something folks, we play music that’s 60 years old.”

He continued: “Management, they love the show, they want to keep the show but they are tweaking it. Maybe things will change, but for now we are ending at 11am.”

He finished by saying “You gotta love radio” and then immediately blasted the George Harrison solo tune, “Devil’s Radio.”

The show has been on the Los Angeles airwaves since Deirdre O’Donoghue started it in 1983. Carter took over in 2001 and has filled the city with Beatles songs for over 25 years.

Loyal listener Mike Sinclair was shocked when he heard the announcement and told The California Post, “No! Why? I’m very surprised as I’ve always understood that Breakfast With The Beatles was the No. 1 weekend show on KLOS.”

Another fan, Pat Tyson, who’s attended at least 50 live shows, which happen at various LA locations, said, “I don’t like them messing with it at all.

“There’s the Beatles and then there’s everyone else, they are timeless, to take an hour from the program is truly a loss for everyone,” Tyson added.

“I just look forward to the three hours. It’s my Sunday ritual. I don’t know what to do with myself,” she added.

Tyson has already reached out to other listeners and plans to contact KLOS management first thing Monday morning and let them know they do not agree with the decision.Calls from The Post to KLOS went unanswered.

Carter, a former member of ’80s rock band Dramarama, continues to be the ringleader of all things Beatles in LA. He’s interviewed four members of the band and has hosted record release and birthday events for Ringo Starr.

Sinclair is hopeful the show will return to the original format. “There’s a reason it’s America’s longest running Beatles Show, it rocks and rolls. And truly Chris is the best host and presenter of the Beatles in the world.” he said.
