Bikers in the buff take to LA streets for World Naked Bike Ride

Add The California Post on Google The clothes came off as the rubber hit the road at the World Naked Bike Ride in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, with hundreds of cyclists taking part in the body-baring cruise along city streets.

Staged out of the parking in Little Tokyo, the event transformed the area into a sea of skin of body paint, before riders set off on their eyebrow-raising routes.

The events featured two separate rides: a 10 a.m. run covering roughly 9 miles and 2 p.m. trek stretching about 7 miles with a more challenging, hill-heavy route.

Both routes wound through downtown Los Angeles landmarks, offering X-rated moments to unsuspecting passersby.

Participants moved through the city in various states of undress, with body paint replacing biker shorts and police escorts directing traffic as the cyclists passed sidewalks packed with onlookers.

Some riders wore tops and shorts, while others fully embraced the event’s “bare as you dare” ethos.

However, participants were instructed not to disrobe until reaching the staging area.

While participation was technically free, donations were encouraged to help cover operational costs including traffic control, portable restrooms, wristbands and loaner bikes.

The event, which occupies a legal gray zone around public nudity, operates under guidelines that prohibit lewd or sexually explicit exposure. The ride is instead framed as a protest against car culture and an exercise in public expression.
