Padres have Dodgers beat in one competition at MLB ballparks

Add The California Post on Google The Dodgers and Padres are beginning a three-game series June 26 at Petco Park.

While this should be a competitive series between two NL West rivals, the Padres’ fan base is already demolishing the Dodgers’ when it comes to drinking.

Action Network analyzed a recent survey from nearly 3,500 U.S. MLB fans to find out which fan bases drink the most before and during games. Padres fans had the Dodgers’ fan base thoroughly beat on both fronts.

Padres fans were tied for 10th in MLB for the average alcoholic drinks they had during games; 2.69% of Padres fans had at least one drink during games and 9.2% had five drinks or more.

As for Dodgers fans, their average of 1.7 drinks consumed during games was tied for 24th in MLB; 67% of fans had at least one drink during games, while just 4.9% had five or more — a stark contrast to the boozier Padres fans.

Padres fans also enter games with more alcohol in their system, averaging 1.3 drinks before the game (fifth most in MLB); 50% of fans have at least one drink before entering the stadium, and 8.40% of fans arrive at the field already having had five or more drinks.

Dodgers fans average 0.9 alcoholic beverages consumed before games, tied for 22nd in MLB; 37% of fans have at least one drink before arriving, and 5% have already had five or more drinks before first pitch.

Therefore, regardless of how this weekend’s series goes, Padres fans are the clear winners over Dodgers fans when it comes to drinking. Then again, the real winner is Petco Park, as it benefits the most from all this boozing.
