Add The California Post on Google A comment that Norway star striker Erling Haaland made about his team’s upcoming game June 26 against France raised eyebrows.
“Honestly, I don’t care too much [about the game against France] now. We’re through [to the knockout stage]. We managed to get through, which is incredible. I couldn’t care too much about that game now,” Haaland said when asked about the challenge of facing France, per an X post from Underdog.
“[France is] probably going to win against us, they’re probably going to win the whole tournament.”
Haaland has become beloved among sports fans for his candor and sense of humor. And while some of this comment was surely tongue-in-cheek, Haaland was also being realistic about his team’s chances against France, which is the favorite to win this year’s World Cup and has been to the past two World Cup finals (including winning in 2018).
What’s for sure is that if Norway is going to upset France on Friday, it will need a spectacular performance from Haaland, who has already found the back of the net four times in two World Cup games. Some reports indicated Haaland was not going to play.
Haaland’s longtime girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, has been following Norway throughout the World Cup in style, which was shown by recent social media posts rocking a custom jacket that resembles Norway’s World Cup jersey, complete with Haaland’s last name and jersey number.
Johansen seems to have gotten several uses from the jacket, as she was wearing it during Norway’s most recent days and posted an Instagram Story wearing it on June 25.
Regardless of how Norway fares against France, Johansen will be there to support Haaland. And perhaps she’ll wear this awesome custom jacket once again.
