Add The California Post on Google A cult-favorite Los Angeles burger spot appears to be headed behind the Orange Curtain — and it could be bringing more than just smashburgers.
The Win~Dow, the popular walk-up burger stand known for its affordable cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches and shakes, is rumored to be opening a new location in Old Towne Orange.
The restaurant appears to be taking over the former radiator shop at 237 W. Chapman Ave, near Chapman and Lemon Street, according to a California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control license application.
The application identifies a business called “The Win~Dow and a Bar” at the same address.
The application, filed under Win Orange LLC, shows a pending Type-47 on-sale general eating place license — the kind used by restaurants seeking to serve alcohol on site.
The license status was listed as pending as of June 24.
Plans for the property including an outdoor garden space and a bar, according to local Instagram account NoPlaceLikeOrange, potentially turning the long-vacant Old Towne site into a new hangout in the heart of Orange County.
The Win~Dow first launched in Venice in 2019 and quickly built a loyal following for its simple menu and low-price appeal.
The brand is best known for its smashburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, grain bowls, kale salads, fries and hand-spun shakes. Its breakfast burrito has also become a favorite at select locations.
The possible Orange outpost would mark another Southern California expansion for the growing brand, which already has locations in Venice, Silver Lake, Hollywood, Santa Monica, West Adams, Long Beach, Santa Barbara and The Grove, according to What Now.
The Win~Dow is part of American Gonzo Food Corp., the hospitality group behind concepts including American Beauty, Superba and Pitfire Pizza.
The move would bring one of LA’s buzziest fast-casual burger names to Old Towne Orange, where the former radiator shop property has sat empty for years.
