Dave Flemming, longtime ESPN play-by-play voice, quietly splits with network

Add The New York Post on Google You won’t be seeing Dave Flemming on ESPN anymore.

After calling Monday’s Braves-Padres game, Awful Announcing learned that Flemming won’t be working at ESPN any longer in order to spend more time with his family.

Flemming spent 16 years with the network, initially joining as a college basketball play-by-play announcer in 2010 before building an impressive broadcast portfolio in the following years.

The long-time sportscaster called Saturday college football on ABC and ESPN with Brock Osweiler, covered golf majors and handled MLB games across ESPN’s various platforms.

Flemming has also been involved with Little League World Series coverage since 2013.

Outside of ESPN, Flemming is the on-air voice for the San Francisco Giants on KNBR-AM radio broadcasts and certain television games.

Flemming has also served as a substitute announcer for the Warriors radio broadcasts and called Stanford football for six years.

During his time with the Giants, Flemming has received three North California Emmys for his commentary, and was named the best of the new generation of baseball announcers by Sports Business Journal in 2008.

Flemming was also added to NBC’s “Sunday Leadoff Rotation” in May, where he’s joined Matt Vasgerian as a second play-by-play voice for the package on NBC and Peacock.

He’s called multiple games for the network already, including last Sunday’s Angels-A’s contest.

It’s unclear as to whether Flemming will become a more regular part of NBC’s broadcasts, but the network holds rights to college football, college basketball and golf, all sports he has plenty of experience broadcasting.
