Fired-up Trump issues warning after Mamdani-backed socialists sweep NY congressional primaries

Add The New York Post on Google President Trump predicted that New York will “only get worse” after two socialist candidates backed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani won Democratic congressional primaries in the Big Apple Tuesday night.

“Many Communists running in badly failing Blue States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The votes seem to have them doing quite well against each other. The bad news is that history has conclusively shown that the downtrodden States that they will soon be running will ONLY GET WORSE.”

In a separate post early Wednesday, Trump vowed: “America the Beautiful will NEVER be a Communist Country!!!”

Trump spoke out after state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez easily defeated Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and — in the shock of the evening — former Mamdani campaign staffer Darializa Avila Chevalier knocked off five-term incumbent Adriano Espaillat, the leader of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

With Valdez and Chevalier running in heavily Democratic districts, Tuesday’s primaries amounted to a de facto general election, all but ensuring that the House of Representatives will have two more card-carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America in their midst when the 120th Congress convenes in January.

Currently, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) are the only two DSA members in Congress.

Valdez and Avila Chevalier both campaigned on an anti-Israel platform, calling for a full divestment from Israeli companies and cutting off sales of US arms to its lone Middle Eastern ally.

Valdez has also backed the seizure of property from landlords, while Chevalier has said she doesn’t believe criminal illegal aliens should be deported.

New York’s DSA branch also enjoyed a good night in state legislative primaries, with seven of their eight endorsed candidates on course to win and raise their numbers in Albany to 14 from nine.

Meanwhile, Mamdani secured his reputation as a kingmaker in city politics after former city Comptroller Brad Lander — another anti-Israel candidate — unseated Rep. Dan Goldman in New York’s 10th Congressional District by a margin of two-to-one.
