JASON SZENES/ NY POST The Rangers are gearing up for the weeklong sprint through this weekend’s NHL draft and the start of free agency July 1, and one prospect could be on the move at some point.
Brett Berard is looking for a change of scenery after an underwhelming 2025-26 season, according to a source.

As activity ramps up around the league, the Blueshirts could trade Berard — who is a pending restricted free agent with arbitration rights this summer — for a draft pick or package him in a bigger deal.
Since Berard is no longer waivers exempt, a trade would ensure the Rangers don’t risk losing him for nothing if they have to assign him to AHL Hartford out of training camp.
