The creative ways Yankees can attack trade market lacking true sellers

hardball Joel Sherman The creative ways Yankees can attack trade market lacking true sellers By Joel Sherman Published June 20, 2026, 11:21 a.m. ET Brian Cashman has roster holes to plug for manager Aaron Boone. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post Trent Grisham, placed on the injured list June 12 with a strained hamstring, was doing quick start and stop agility drills early in this current homestand.

Max Fried, out since May 13 with a bone bruise in his pitching left elbow, has been throwing bullpen sessions and is expected soon to graduate to facing hitters.

Aaron Judge, out since May 31 with a stress fracture in a rib, is two-ish weeks from imaging to determine how his rehab should proceed.

The Yankees expect all back before the Aug. 3 trade deadline and, if full strength is reached, that would return a starting outfield of Grisham, Judge and Cody Bellinger. The rotation would be constructed around Fried, Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón and Cam Schlittler.
