Trump signs Iran deal again — this time by hand over palace dinner with Macron

Add The New York Post on Google President Trump on Wednesday autographed the US-Iran memorandum of understanding — after he signed the document to end the war electronically on Sunday, a senior White House official confirmed to The Post.

The document previously was going to be physically signed in-person by Vice President JD Vance with Iranian senior officials during a ceremony on Friday, which Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said has since been cancelled.

Baghaei said the president of Iran would also sign it Wednesday, after which “violating it will carry a higher cost.”

“As of now, plans for the negotiating teams to be present in Geneva remain in place, but the memorandum has been signed digitally and no signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland,” he told reporters. “The text of the Iran-U.S. memorandum is now officially finalized, because both sides have signed it.”

Axios reported Trump personally signed a copy of the agreement during a dinner Wednesday with French President Macron at the Palace of Versailles. A photograph was sent to Iranians to formalize the deal.

The White House did not immediately respond to a question asking for confirmation that the signing ceremony had been axed, but a senior US official telegraphed earlier Wednesday the event was in doubt and signing could occur “remotely.”
