Add The New York Post on Google A deranged Missouri man with a penchant for Muslim woman was sentenced to nearly three centuries behind bars for raping and sodomizing seven women who he lured to his apartment through dating apps.
Chiropractic student Yahya Maly, 30, was slapped Tuesday with a whopping 291 years in prison for his years-long ploy where he lured unsuspecting women to his apartment in the St. Louis suburbs to assault them.
A majority of his victims were Muslim women seeking to connect with other practicing Muslims through a religious dating app that explicitly required users to agree to abstinence and other Islamic practices, Spectrum News reported.
Three of the seven women targeted by the sicko between March 2023 and February 2025 testified at the trial.
Several recounted similar hesitancy about reporting the assaults and rapes out of fear that law enforcement would disregard — or even shame them.
One woman testified that she was “confused” after her first encounter with Maly, who used the pseudonym “John” online. She said that Maly removed her hijab without permission and raped her while insisting that they were now married.
She said that they met on a mainstream dating app and spoke about Islamic values before deciding to meet up.
When she had enough, Maly berated her and seethed that she would go to hell if she didn’t fulfill her “wifely duties,” the outlet reported.
“This felt like the weirdest misunderstanding ever,” she testified.
Maly raped her a second time when she again visited his apartment. The woman said she only returned a third time because she intended to kill him, before he raped her yet again
“Life felt like it was already over,” she admitted.
Two of the victims were in the gallery for Maly’s long-awaited sentencing on Tuesday.
“I was actually thinking about not coming into it because of just putting my energy out there,” one of the victims told Fox 2 Now.
“Then I knew I had to be brave enough and then come out and actually be able to have this closure within this as well. So, it was very important for me.”
Maly was convicted on four counts of first-degree rape or attempted rape, eight counts of second-degree rape and five counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy.
He was acquitted of two counts of assault and two counts of kidnapping.
