The warning was issued at 9.40pm, signalling that more than 30mm of rain had fallen or was expected to fall across the city within an hour.

The alert also indicates that downpours are likely to continue.

The Observatory said that under the influence of an active southwest monsoon and a trough of low pressure, unsettled weather were expected to persist over the coming days.

Showers are expected to be particularly heavy until Tuesday, raising the risk of flooding in some districts.

The forecaster urged the public to take precautions against possible flooding, including avoiding low‑lying areas and securing outdoor items.
