New Falcons coach LaTroy Lewis fired hours after disturbing rape, assault accusations

Hours after an accusation of violence made against LaTroy Lewis was made public on Friday, Atlanta dismissed its assistant defensive line coach.

Reporter Justin Spiro detailed the allegations against Lewis stemming from his time as an assistant coach at Michigan from 2023-24.

The allegations against LaTroy Lewis stem from his days on the Michigan staff. LaTroy Lewis/Facebook A woman claims Lewis, 32, raped and attacked her in separate incidents, according to Spiro, who reported he sent her graphic messages “commanding her to perform various sexual acts on him.”

Per the report, when the anonymous woman brought his behavior to then-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore, he dismissed her allegations.

Moore was later fired in a high-profile incident that included him threatening to kill himself in front of a staff member he was having an affair with.

Lewis played collegiately at Tennessee before brief NFL stints on the Texans’ and Raiders’ rosters.

He moved to Toledo in 2025 to become its defensive line coach and was hired by the Falcons in February.
