Kyle Busch’s wife made an agonizing promise to the NASCAR star on his deathbed

Add The New York Post on Google The wife of the late NASCAR star Kyle Busch has revealed the promise she made to him while on his deathbed.

Samantha Busch promised the 41-year-old she would “do everything I could to help our children pursue their dreams no matter what.”

They have two children together, an 11-year-old son, Brexton, and a 4-year-old daughter, Lennix.

Kyle Busch died May 21 after a short hospitalization from pneumonia that progressed into sepsis, “resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.”

The Hall of Fame driver was battling a sinus issue before his death and was testing a Chevrolet racing simulator when he suddenly fell ill.

Brexton Busch completed his first race since his father’s death on Monday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, finishing sixth in the Young Lions division of the Cook Out Summer Shootout.

Samantha Busch noted in her Instagram post that her son’s dream is racing. Richard Childress Racing suspended the use of Kyle Busch’s No. 8 car until Brexton can take it over.

“It wasn’t a dream Kyle chose for him. It was something they shared,” Samantha Busch said. “They spent countless hours talking about race cars, working together, dreaming together, and building a bond around something they both genuinely loved.”

Brexton Busch has been racing since he was 6 years old.

The widow also mentioned that if Lennix Busch chooses to get into racing, she will support her with that.

Samantha Busch said her daughter recently got her first kart for her birthday.

“The racetrack has been home for our family for nearly 20 years,” Samantha Busch wrote. “It’s where some of our greatest memories were made, where our kids grew up, and where so much of our life together happened.

“Right now, when so much of our world feels unfamiliar, it’s also one of the few places that still feels like home.”
