Maura Higgins may have lost The Traitors Season 4 and the $220,000 prize, but she won herself a Birkin bag thanks to Rob Rausch‘s guilty conscience.
In Episode 11 of the Peacock reality series, things quickly went south in the final moments of the game as the Love Island competitors took each other all the way to the end, only for Rob to shock Maura by admitting that he is and has always been a Traitor.
The awkward moment in the final Circle of Truth is made even more uncomfortable as the editors (who knew exactly what they were doing with this choice) opted to cut the background music and use only the dead silence of the room as Maura reconciled letting $110,000 slip from her hands and stood there in absolute disbelief.
After a few hilarious comments about how Rob is never going to be able to get a girlfriend again because of how good he is at lying and deceiving, even she admits that he played an incredible game that deserves its flowers.
“He’s a bad man,” Maura said in one confessional. “But good for him. Oh, my days. Rob, you’re a fucking snake. But well done.” That admission is far from her saying that they are cool with each other, and it now officially sounds like Rob has figured out how to make amends.
During The Traitors Season 4 reunion, Rob shared that as a token of his appreciation for Maura blindly following him to the finish line, he is going to spend a solid chunk of his winnings to get her a pretty pricey purse.
“Probably save it for the future,” Rob said when Andy Cohen asked him how he plans to spend the money he won in the game, “and I have to buy Maura a Birkin Bag.”
To that, Cohen asked Traitor and Season 4 cast member Lisa Rinna how much exactly Rob will be coughing up in order to bury the hatchet with Maura, which is when she shared that it’s a minimum of $10,000. Realistically, Birkin bags — which are a type of designer purse made by Hermès — run from anywhere in the low five-figure to high six-figure range, so Rob, get ready to dig deep in those overalls.
All in all, it seems like a small price to pay to sleep easily at night. A win is a win, even if it comes with having to buy one of your costars a designer handbag just to feel okay about your dastardly deeds. Hey, at least he’s trying to make it right!
