Apple TV is no stranger to sci-fi thrillers (see: Pluribus and Emmy-winning Severance), and its MonsterVerse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters joins the ranks as a must-see for fans of Godzilla and King Kong.
The show’s first season jumped back and forth between the ’50s and present(ish) day, but mostly takes place after the events of Godzilla, the 2014 movie that saw the monster battle with ancient enemies. Anna Sawai plays Cate Randa, a schoolteacher looking to uncover the truth about her father’s connections to the government organization Monarch. She travels across the world with her half-brother Kentaro (Ren Watabe), her grandfather’s old friend Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell), and Kentaro’s ex-girlfriend May (Kiersey Clemons) and encounters Titans, Monarch henchmen, and ends up on Skull Island after being trapped in Axis Mundi for two years.
Season 2 picks up with the crew still on Skull Island, and now facing a mysterious aquatic threat. The Apple TV synopsis for Season 2 reads: “The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea.”

Though Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 officially premieres on February 27 on Apple TV, the streaming service regularly releases new episodes at 9:00 p.m. ET the night before premiere dates, so fans can check the website on Thursday night to see if the first episode is already up. (Fingers crossed!)
Like the previous season, this one will also have 10 episodes.
