Stunning twist in case of LI granny whose body was dumped in woods as her own son is charged

The 36-year-old son of a woman whose bloodied body was dumped in desolate woods on Long Island has been charged with killing her, Suffolk County police said.

Curtis Trent, Jr., was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his mom, 63-year-old Kathleen Harrison Trent, whose body was found in Manorville on Feb. 11 after her family reported her missing, police said.

Clark for NY Post The victim was repeatedly stabbed in the face, chest and abdomen sometime between Jan. 27 and Jan. 29, according to court documents reviewed by News12 Long Island.

Trent, a mother and grandmother, worked as a security guard at Riverhead Raceway.

“She was a loving, caring mother and an amazing friend,” the dead woman’s family wrote on a gofundme.com page created earlier this week.

“Her grandchildren meant the world to her, she was the type of person that would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it or find you one,” the post said. “She cared about so many people, her death was tragic and unexpected.”

The family asked for $6,000 to help with memorial and burial costs, and has raised $8,700.
