‘Heated Rivalry’ EP Brendan Brady Tells Fans To “Enjoy The Yearn” Until Season 2 Returns “As Soon As Humanly Possible”

Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney gave a major update regarding Season 2 of the hit Canadian television series.

Joined by executive producer Brendan Brady, Tierney appeared on CBS Mornings to talk to Gayle King about their plans for Season 2. Tierney announced writing is already underway with filming set to begin this August. King also revealed Season 2 is expected to premiere in April 2027.

Tierney promised fans the show will be back soon, saying, “There will be more Heated Rivalry on your TVs, like, truly, as soon as humanly possible.”

Brady also urged fans to “enjoy the yearn” as they await the highly anticipated next season.

The hit Crave Original series became an international phenomenon after it began streaming on HBO Max this fall, making stars out of series leads Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie.

Season 1 of the hit series followed professional hockey players Shane Hollander (Williams) of the fictional team the Montreal Metros and Ilya Rozanov (Storrie) of the fictional Boston Raiders who strike up a years-long affair behind closed doors while keeping their sexuality a secret.

Heated Rivalry Season 2 will be based on The Long Game, the sequel romance novel written by author Rachel Reid. Reid announced a third book, Unrivaled, about Shane and Ilya is in the works, but the release date has been pushed back to 2027.

Tierney said on CBS Mornings that he felt the show was “very faithful adaptation” of the source material. “This was a Canadian book. We’re Canadian producers,” Tierney said.

Though fans are impatiently waiting for Season 2, there are already rumors about Season 3.

A GQ article confirmed, “Both actors signed on for three seasons of Heated Rivalry,” which means fans may get to see Unrivaled adapted for the screen, too.

Heated Rivalry is streaming now on HBO Max.
