In this exclusive clip from tonight’s episode, we can see just how jarring the flip from wifi to longhand is about to be for the younger doctors, nurses, and med students on The Pitt.
Last week’s episode of The Pitt revealed that the emergency that put Westbridge Hospital out of commission was a cyberattack. To avoid the same nightmare, the higher ups at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center have decided to pull the plug on their internal network before they’re being held hostage by blackmailing hackers. This means that the older doctors — like Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy), and Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) — have to explain to Gen Z students like Javadi (Shabana Azeez) and Ogilvie (Lucas Iverson) how to use a file system to treat their patients and organize the ED.
Dr. Robby kicks off the presentation by explaining to everyone that without the internet, they’ll have to use clipboards to organize each patient. Abbot then seamlessly adds to the presentation, pointing out the “T system” full of paperwork connected to each patient’s complaint. Dr. Al then hops in to quickly go through the protocol for how to quickly mark down each patients’ symptoms. It’s a lot to take in, with even Langdon (Patrick Ball) and McKay (Fiona Douriff) asking questions about the system, while Santos (Isa Briones) literally if the generative AI program will still be working. Robby chuckles. (Of course it won’t.)
To find out how the Pitt crew handles this latest stressful setback, you’ll have to watch tonight’s all-new episode of the HBO Max hit.
The Pitt Season 2 Episode 8 “2 PM” premieres at 9 PM ET on HBO Max.
