Accused California DUI driver’s stunning six-word reply to cops after horrific crash killed couple

Add The New York Post on Google An accused drunk driver who allegedly killed a married couple admitted to cops she had been drinking — but claimed she only had one.

Anabell Correa, who is charged with killing Desiree and Max Mooney in Bakersfield, California, last March, is said to have told officers “I drank one Twisted Tea bro,” according to court documents obtained by Bakersfield Now.

Correa, who was 21 at the time, was traveling eastbound on Stockdale Highway when she allegedly failed to stop at a red light — striking Desiree and Max Mooney’s ride share vehicle.

“I’m never seeing my kid, huh, just because I drove and drank one, two drinks,” Correa told police according to the outlet.

The crash killed the Mooneys, who were coming home after spending the night out celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day. Desiree turned 30 just a few months earlier, according to a Go Fund Me page.

“Several families lost their children that day, and while some will recover the void of the loss of Desiree and Max will be felt forever,” the GoFundMe said, which has raised more than $20,000 to help with funeral costs.

In February, a Kern County judge determined there was sufficient evidence to connect Correa to the incident.

Correa was allegedly driving without a license and had a blood alcohol level that was 0.088%, which was above the 0.080% legal limit, Bakersfield Now reported.

The 22-year-old faces 10 charges, including two counts of murder and will head to trial in late August, the outlet reported.
