Add The New York Post on Google A crazed Texas woman gunned down a 21-year-old female she was living with, falsely claiming that it was her granddaughter — and a day after she reportedly told police she was “seeing demons.”
Courtney Smith, 55, admitted to police that she shot both Maysie Murphy and her ‘boyfriend,’ according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Murphy was found dead on Monday at a residence in the 17800 block of Adlong Johnson Road near US 90 in Crosby, near Houston.
Her boyfriend’s body, however, was not found.
The day before the fatal run-in, Smith called police and told dispatchers she was “seeing demons,” according to Click2Houston.
Investigators believe Smith and Murphy were both temporarily staying in the residence, while the homeowners were out of town.
Cops confirmed that Smith and Murphy were not blood-related, after Smith claimed that she had shot her granddaughter. Murphy was a friend of the homeowners, according to KHOU-11.
Murphy’s father told KHOU-11 that she was “loved by anybody who’s ever come in contact with her.”
“You could never tell what she was going to do or wear next,” the grieving dad said.
“I called her our little hippy. The world is definitely a darker place without her. Taken from us so early. The hole and hurt are felt by so many; may our daughter rest easy.”
Her mother said Murphy was a good sister to her siblings and that she was “always there when someone needed her.”
“She would light up any room she walked into. To know her is to love her. Genuine, kind, outgoing and had so many goals in life,” she said.
Meanwhile, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that Smith was charged with murder and booked in the Harris County Jail.
