We don’t need Nithya Raman’s anti-Israel hatred

Add The New York Post on Google Socialist mayoral candidate Nithya Raman has brought anti-Israel hatred to the race for mayor — a troubling sign that she intends to follow the divisive path of Zohran Mamdani in New York.

As Page Six Hollywood reported, Raman told left-wing extremist and podcaster Hasan Piker that she agreed with the lie that Israel had committed “genocide” in Gaza.

When Piker asked the city council member about whether she believed Israel had the right to exist, she said she did, but added that Israel is an “apartheid” state — another lie that ignores the basic fact that Arabs and Jews have equal rights in Israel.

Socialist mayoral candidate Nithya Raman has brought anti-Israel hatred to the race for mayor. Jon Rou/LMU Piker is a radical socialist who has openly sided with the terrorist organization Hamas against Israel. He is, sadly, the flavor-of-the-month in the Democratic Party, which is moving in an increasingly antisemitic direction.

Raman’s views are out of step with the majority of Angelenos. And LA does not need more of this hatred and division.

It’s not clear what Gaza has to do with LA, but the far left has been dragging the Middle East into just about everything lately.

Even James Carville, the “Rajun’ Cajun,” warned last week that anti-Israel “loudmouths” could cost his party elections.

It is worth reminding Raman that LA is home to a large community of Jews, including Israelis. Many love and admire the State of Israel, as do many other patriotic Americans, who feel a sense of kinship with a fellow democracy, and a connection to the land in which the Bible unfolded.

Many Jews have felt threatened in LA in recent years, especially since the Hamas terror attack of Oct. 7, 2023.

Raman acknowledged that at the time: “Our district is home to beautiful Israeli and Jewish-American communities, and so many who have family in Israel. I cannot imagine the terror they are experiencing.”

Since then, LA’s Jewish community has endured mob attacks on synagogues, among other threats, and a thwarted terror attack that had been aimed at Jewish institutions.

Many of the attacks have been motivated by irrational outrage against Israel — often based on the same lies invoked by Piker and Raman.

Why would anyone want to add to that toxic mix by echoing hateful propaganda?

The horrific attack on a mosque in San Diego this week by apparent neo-Nazi wannabes is a reminder that violent hatred is a threat to people of all faiths.

We need leaders who will bring us together, not drive us apart.
