Red Bull Soapbox Race features wacky rides, fuels imaginations

After being postponed in 2025, the Red Bull Soapbox Race descended Saturday on downtown Los Angeles. More than 30 teams competed from all over the country, bringing wacky chaos to First Street.

The “Krusty Krew,” featuring Joshua Thomas and Thomas Castellan from Tesla, built the Patty Wagon. Their vehicle appeared as a full hamburger with pickle wheels.

“We’re gonna win! If anything, best in show, for sure. You don’t need a license to drive a sandwich,” Thomas said.

Another team, “Medievil Knievel,” built the Flying Fortress. The father-son duo said, “King Charles built the castle, and it survived the test of time. And this castle will survive the test of gravity.”
