They’re not entirely wrong, but fantasy managers know it is about more than having the fastest runners.

Sometimes it is about finding a catcher seemingly with the arm strength of a current-day Charlie Hough or a pitcher who delivers a ball with the speed of a sloth doing, well, anything.

While everyone obsesses over launch angles and hard-hit rates, savvy fantasy managers are looking for the season’s most generous batteries and treating them like an all-you-can-steal buffet.

Miami backstop Liam Hicks might have entered the weekend leading the majors in RBIs, but he was 1-for-17 (6 percent) throwing out baserunners attempting to steal against him, according to Statcast.
