The last time that fair city by the Erie Canal won a major league championship was Dec. 26, 1965, when the Bills beat the Chargers at old War Memorial Stadium — “the Rockpile” — 20-7. The Bills have bruised Buffalo’s heart many times since. The Sabres have bloodied it.

Not long ago the “Jeremy and Joe” morning show on WGR radio began postulating what Buffalo sports fans would be willing to do if the Sabres can win the 10 games left before them to win the first Stanley Cup in the team’s 55-year history. My two favorites …
