Mark Cannizzaro Jon Rahm can’t talk his way out of carrying LIV Golf albatrosses at PGA championship By Mark Cannizzaro Published May 12, 2026, 7:49 p.m. ET Jon Rahm of Spain looks on from the third green during a practice round prior to the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club on May 12, 2026. Getty Images NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — Jon Rahm, in the final round of the LIV Golf event Sunday in Virginia, did something he’d never done in his professional golf career when he made an albatross on the 17th hole.
It was only the fifth time a player has holed out for a 2 on a par-5 in the four-year history of LIV … and it went completely unnoticed by the LIV telecast and leaderboard.
Is there a better metaphor for Rahm’s career since joining LIV Golf than this?
A good argument can be made that there isn’t a player whose legacy in the game has been more adversely affected than that of Rahm, who left the PGA Tour for a reported guaranteed sum of between $300 million and $500 million.
