Saleswoman Ma Lai-hing, 62, and sailor Ng Tau-ming, 63, pleaded guilty last month to outraging public decency at Cheung Chau Public Pier on October 29, 2025.
Eastern Court on Tuesday accepted a probation officer’s recommendation to sentence the pair to 80 hours each of unpaid community work.
Magistrate Kestrel Lam Tsz-hong noted the officer made positive comments about the defendants - and while Ng had previous brushes with the law, the nature of his earlier convictions was different from the present offence.
Police arrested Ma and Ng after four videos showing them performing sexual acts at the pier were widely shared on various WhatsApp channels.
The court heard the acts took place while the woman was sitting on a bench that afternoon.
