Peralta ended up finishing the year with Milwaukee — reaching the NL Championship Series in the process — and was traded to the Mets in the offseason, expected to top a rotation that was going to help the high-priced roster get back to the postseason.

Instead, Peralta takes the mound for the Mets on Tuesday against Detroit at Citi Field with his name at least being mentioned as a trade candidate as part of the most disappointing team in the sport.

The Mets still haven’t given up on this season, but they entered Monday with a 23.1 percent chance of reaching the playoffs, according to FanGraphs.
