15-year-old shot in head, 18-year-old killed 24 hours apart in NYC

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the head in The Bronx on Monday afternoon — a day after an 18-year-old was killed in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The boy was wounded behind the NYCHA’s Boston Secor Houses in the Eastchester neighborhood around 2:50 p.m., according to police.

The young victim was in critical but stable condition at Jacobi Hospital, the NYPD said.

The shooting of a 15-year-old boy took place Monday afternoon in The Bronx. Peter Gerber About 24 hours earlier, Quahmir Cruz, 18, was fatally shot in the chest in front of NYCHA’s Van Dyke Houses in Brownsville, police said.

Cruz, a resident of the same public housing complex, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Motives in both violent incidents were unclear, and no suspects were in custody as of Monday evening, authorities said.

No motive was revealed for the Bronx bloodshed. Peter Gerber The two shootings are the latest examples of recent violent crime against the city’s youth.

A 16-year-old boy, Marquise Byfield, was shot and killed at a Brooklyn bodega April 24, and Jonathan Melo, 17, was fatally stabbed in the back April 29 by alleged attacker Andrew Tollinche outside a Bronx apartment.

Jaden Pierre, 15, was fatally gunned down during a gang-fueled brawl at a Queens park April 16. Zahir Davis, 18, was arrested and charged in Pierre’s death.
