Eric Clapton ended a recent concert in Spain early after he was struck by an object thrown by someone in the audience.
While performing at the Movistar Arena in Madrid on May 7, a concertgoer threw what appeared to be a vinyl record at the legendary guitarist, according to fan-captured video of the incident.
The viral clip shows Clapton walking on the stage when he’s hit by the object, which startled him and caused him to momentarily pause.
Clapton, 81, had just finished performing “Cocaine” and, after being impacted by the vinyl record, did not return to the stage to perform “Before You Accuse Me” as the encore, as he’s done with other shows on the European leg of his tour, reports Guitar World.
The musician didn’t appear to be injured, and performed in Barcelona on May 10.
Representatives for Clapton didn’t have a comment when contacted by Page Six.

After a one-off show in the UK in August, he’ll take his show across the US with dates between Sept. 6 and Sept. 27.
Clapton’s recent experience of having a vinyl record thrown at him is the latest in an unfortunate pattern of bad behavior from concertgoers in recent years.
In 2023, Bebe Rexha sustained a black eye after a fan threw a phone at her mid-concert, and Kelsea Ballerini was struck by an unknown object, which some reported to be a bracelet, while performing.
The following year, Nick Jonas rushed off stage after a crowd member pointed a laser at him, Zach Bryan stopped a show after someone threw an object at him and Billie Eilish was hit in the face with a bracelet.
In 2025, Katy Perry was grabbed by a fan who stormed the stage, and Luke Bryan was hit in the face with a ball during a concert.
