Crazed recidivist’s deadly subway shove: Letters to the Editor — May 12, 2026

Recidivist Rhamell Burke is accused of shoving a 76-year-old former school teacher down a flight of NYC subway stairs. Robert Mecea for New York Post The Issue: Recidivist Rhamell Burke allegedly shoving an ex-NYC teacher down subway stairs to his death. The murder of Ross Falzone by a crazed repeat offender, released an hour after police escorted him to Bellevue Hospital, encapsulates every destructive impulse the left acts upon (“Subway track record,” May 10).

The responsibility of government is to protect the lives of its citizens. Instead, the left continues to protect criminals.

There is a simple solution to this cancer: mandatory and lasting incarceration of those who threaten the safety of others, be they insane or simply deviant.

There is a simple question we should ask every lenient judge who does not follow prosecutor recommendations in the face of a mentally-ill recidivist: Judge, if you are going to release the alleged perpetrator, will you take him home?

The bar has been set so low that unless we frame the question that way, the revolving door of mentally ill criminals in leftist cities will persist.

Why aren’t people demanding the removal of judges who release the likes of Rhamell Burke back onto the streets?

It is difficult to imagine why Judge Marva Brown, for instance, would put this creep back on the street after he assaulted a woman. Granted, he has a winning smile, but is it too much to ask that a judge be immune to such charms?

Responsibility for Falzone’s death lies squarely on the shoulders of the morons who’ve been running this city. The names change, but the narrative remains the same.

It’s crystal clear that the clowns in city government are more concerned with building bike lanes than addressing the mental-health crisis, leaving New Yorkers terrified of walking the streets or using the subway.

Burke’s rap sheet includes an alleged assault on Port Authority cops in February — a felony punishable by 5 to 25 years.

Did District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office let him go? If so, there needs to be accountability by Bragg to the family of Ross Falzone. His woke policies are killing innocent victims.

What is it going to take to get these people off the streets? Maybe when it hits home one day for those protecting criminals, we will see a change. Voters should think twice about this in the next election.

If Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi really cared about democracy, she’d be against open borders and letting killers loose on our streets (“Abe-solutely crazy,” May 10).

She would praise Trump for fighting o keep Iran from gaining nuclear weapons. Trump has done nothing to deprive our great nation of democracy. Pelosi talks about freedoms. We should have the freedom to live our lives in a safe country. We should be able to take the subway safely and our children should be able to safely get to school without being harassed because of their religion.

Pelosi should fight for that — not against a president who is doing just that.

The Democrats are suffering from derangement. To compare Pelosi’s progressive party to Abraham Lincoln is a disgrace and shows how out of touch she is.

She is as bad as AOC, who said the American Revolution was against billionaires.
