Savannah Guthrie is the host of a new “Wordle” game show.
The journalist made the “big announcement” on the “Today” show Monday alongside Jimmy Fallon, the executive producer of the project.
“We’ve been holding in a secret between us for a long time now,” the 54-year-old gushed.
Fallon, 51, replied, “I’m so happy it’s you — we were looking for the perfect host for this. We need someone who looks like they play Wordle, someone who knows how to run a show.
“We did the pilot, and you were amazing,” the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” host continued of Guthrie, who guest-hosted “Jeopardy!” in 2021 for two weeks.
The game show, based off the New York Times’ popular puzzle of the same name, will begin filming this summer.

News initially broke in October 2025 that “Wordle” was in development, with Guthrie set to host.
Since then, Guthrie has been in headlines primarily for her personal life as her family navigates mom Nancy Guthrie’s ongoing disappearance.
The 84-year-old was last seen at her Arizona home in January — and Savannah stepped back from the “Today” show for weeks amid the crisis.
She acknowledged in a heartbreaking February video that the matriarch “may already be lost,” noting, “If this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is.”
She returned to Studio 1A — and co-host Craig Melvin — two months later.
“Well, ready or not, here we go!” the Daytime Emmy winner told viewers in April. ” Let’s do the news.”
She wore a yellow dress at the time, with the color symbolizing hope, remembrance and support for Nancy’s return.
Savannah did the same on Monday as a seemingly subtle Mother’s Day acknowledgment.
The former attorney posted a touching tribute to Instagram over the weekend, writing, “We miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”
Her husband, Michael Feldman, dubbed Savannah “the strongest person” in an emotional upload of his own on Sunday.
