Mitchell Robinson got his Joel Embiid revenge with one thunderous Knicks slam

New York Knicks Stefan Bondy Mitchell Robinson got his Joel Embiid revenge with one thunderous Knicks slam By Stefan Bondy Published May 9, 2026, 12:03 a.m. ET Mitchell Robinson dunks the ball during the Knicks' May 8 win. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect It was roughly the same spot two years ago where Joel Embiid dragged down Mitchell Robinson under the northeast basket of the Sixers arena. Back then, Robinson was just returning from ankle surgery. Then Embiid hurt him again with a dirty play. A third ankle surgery was just a few weeks away.

You wondered back then whether Robinson would ever be healthy again. The DNPs were piling up, his conditioning was poor and his ankle was clearly fragile. Embiid’s dirty tactics had bothered Robinson, even if he never spoke about it publicly.

So it must’ve felt sweet in the second quarter Friday night when Robinson caught a lob from the baseline — the same baseline where he was pulled from behind in 2024 — and just dunked all over Embiid.
