Boaters make grisly discovery near iconic Long Beach ocean liner: ‘We thought it was trash’

A pair of boaters were shocked to find a body floating in near the iconic Queen Mary ocean liner in Long Beach harbor late Monday night.

The two men initially didn’t flinch before making the disturbing discovery.

N – stock.adobe.com “We were passing the buoys, and we thought it was trash… We noticed… what seemed to be a back, so we turned around to confirm,” one of the boaters told ABC 7.

“It was actually pretty surreal. To think that you could find a dead body like that… like right outside of the marina in Long Beach — that’s insane,” the second boater added.

The man’s body had no “obvious signs of trauma” and foul play is not expected, the Long Beach Police Department told The Post.

dbvirago – stock.adobe.com Cops first received reports of the body in the Port of Long Beach area near Queensway Bay around 10:34 p.m.

The medical examiner is now handling the investigation to determine the man’s identity and cause of death.

The Queen Mary is a British-ship-turned-tourist attraction that now operates as a hotel and restaurant.
