Kudos to future lawyer Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is at times a controversial figure, but no one can doubt that she has succeeded at almost everything she has tried — from modeling, to television, to fashion.

So it is unusual to see her admit that the California Bar Examination — the test required to practice law in the state — has been too difficult for her to overcome, at least for now.

Kardashian failed the exam last year, and — according to Page Six — won’t take it this year, either. It is being offered in July for the second and last time in 2026.

Kim Kardashian is at times a controversial figure, but no one can doubt that she has succeeded at almost everything she has tried — from modeling, to television, to fashion. London Entertainment / SplashNews.com Her reason is entirely valid: she is busy with filming and production for other projects. That’s a good reason to skip the bar exam, because the only way to pass it is to devote several months to full-time study.

The bar exam is tough enough to pass in any state. In California, it is incredibly difficult.

Even students at elite law schools take private bar exam prep courses for months, spending thousands of dollars to review material they’ve already spent three years studying.

If you don’t have at least eight weeks to set aside, you’re not going to pass it.

But it took courage to take the bar exam without going to a traditional law school.

So Kardashian is right to wait. REUTERS And it took courage to admit that she did not pass. She had to know that there were haters out there, eager to see her fail, hoping to see their prejudices confirmed: models can’t be smart.

When you have been born into privilege; when you’re “famous for being famous”; and when your life revolves around red carpets and awards shows, it is not easy to take a loss.

But Kardashian had the strength of character to show humility, and to accept defeat with dignity.

She didn’t complain. She didn’t demand that the bar exam be made easier — which is what some people want to do, given the low pass rate.

Some have even argued that the standards should be lowered because not enough women and minorities are passing it.

Kardashian is not asking for special treatment. By deferring until next year — when she will presumably have more time to study — she is showing respect for the institution of the Bar.

We hope Kim Kardashian tries again. And when she passes, she will have earned it.
