A sweet act by Derwin James this week brought an elderly Chargers fan to tears.
The Pro Bowl safety called up a 75-year-old woman to thank her for her recent season ticket purchase, and she was so stunned by the 29-year-old’s gesture, she actually began to cry.
The interaction was captured on video and shared to the Chargers’ Instagram page on Wednesday, and the footage is moving.

The woman then flipped on her camera, and the two had an adorable conversation.
She explained that she loves James and the Chargers so much, she actually named her cat after him.
“He’s a big cat,” she said, “and he’s a boy cat and we named him Derwin.”
“I cannot tell you how much I love you,” she added.
James profusely thanked her, and then the woman appeared to break down in tears once more.
“I owe you,” she said. “My daughter won’t believe this, but I’m going to tell her Derwin called me. And it wasn’t the damn cat.”
The woman then finished the call by imploring James to “be cool out there” and “play hard.”
