SoCal’s Six Flags Magic Mountain shutters popular children’s rides in major park shakeup

Amusement park patrons looking for some animation-themed family fun may be disappointed when heading to Six Flags Magic Mountain this summer.

The Valencia, California-based theme park announced that their popular Bugs Bunny World will be closing several rides, as they change that area to Looney Tunes World, slated to debut later this summer.

The newly-launched Magic Mountain Ride Closures website reveals the following rides will be closed immediately:

The only ride within Bugs Bunny World to remain open is Road Runner Express, a kids roller coaster, during the construction.

Two other attractions outside of Bugs Bunny World — Jet Stream and Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom — are also closed, though both are slated to re-open on May 23, during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The construction of Looney Tunes World was supposed to happen in various phases, though several weather delays forced them to close the entire area for construction.

Looney Tunes World was first announced in December 2025, with the new area envisioned as a, “family-friendly area will be refreshed to evoke the warm, nostalgic feelings of the Chuck Jones era of Looney Tunes.”

The new attraction will feature feature four areas that will celebrate classic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny, Taz, Daffy Duck, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.

Looney Tunes World will be anchored around Bugs Bunny Play Park, a central park where Bugs will welcome visitors, which replaces Speedy Gonzalez Hot Rods and Pepe Le Pew’s Tea Party.

The Merrie Melodies Merrie-Go-Round will be refurbished to match the rest of the area with a brand new marquee and color scheme.

The Wascal’s restaurant will be re-branded with a new Granny’s House rear facade that fans will be able to explore as well.

Another new area is Taz-Mania, described as, “a vibrant tropical landscape” where fans will notice several places where the Taz has left his destructive mark.

The current Whistlestop Train will be rebranded as Taz’s Tasmanian Train Tours, where fans can hop on a train and take a tour through the wilderness, where the Taz himself may indeed pop up.

Taz’s Exploration Trail will replace Magic Flyer and Tweety’s Escape, where fans will go on a jungle-themed treasure hunt.

Road Runner Ridge offers a New Mexico-inspired locale, where Wile E. Coyote will continue his quest to track down the elusive Road Runner.

Eagle-eyed guests will enter the area through the iconic painted tunnel from the cartoons, and they will spot a number of ACME traps left for the speedy animal throughout the desert terrain.

The final new area is the Daffy Duck-themed Camp Duck Amuck, where the existing Taz’s Trucking Company will turn into Daffy’s Forest Four-Wheelers.

The area will feature Daffy Duck as a forest ranger, inviting fans to join him on patrol in their own jeeps while exploring new character scenes on the trail.

The current Looney Tunes Lodge will be rebranded as a cabin in the High Sierra Mountains.

There is no indication on when any of these new attractions will open at Six Flags Magic Mountain quite yet.
