A law is a law and he should abide by it, like it or not.
If he disregards ICE enforcement laws, why should I be required to follow any particular law I don’t agree with?
Mamdani’s preferred reason for not allowing the NYPD to cooperate with ICE is because it is “cruel and inhumane.”
There may have been incidents where his opinion has some validity but, based on the reported details of the Wyckoff Heights clash, this isn’t one of them.
He side-stepped any criticism of the protest by framing it within his general opinion of the agency, and cleverly got away with it.
An illegal migrant was arrested by ICE agents, who brought him to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn after he requested medical attention.
While this was going on, a large crowd formed, blocking the emergency room where the ICE agents were bringing the migrant out.
The crowd was out of control and the police were called in to disperse the crowd.
Arrests needed to be made because the crowd was acting more like it was a riot, not a protest.
This migrant had overstayed his visa plus had committed a couple of crimes.
Instead of immediately trying to paint the migrant as innocent, people should look at the entire picture of why he was being arrested.
A mob learns of ICE taking an arrested illegal to a hospital and places all those needing medical care in danger by blocking emergency vehicles from entering or leaving the facility.
The lunatic crowd was so brainwashed by all the “hate ICE” rhetoric, they did not care if their actions could cause the death of innocent people.
The unnecessary deaths of the homeless during this winter’s snowstorms proves this.
As long as his agendas move forward, people dying are just minor details.
US Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui, who apologized to Cole Allen for jail conditions, is an insufferable hack (“Whatever you’ve been through, I apologize,’ ” May 5).
Is this Allen character entitled to Ritz Carlton-style amenities?
This magistrate is just another example of how unbelievably reprehensible these judges have become in their injudicious weak and soft treatment of felons, whether these miscreants be first-time or repeat offenders.
Judge Faruqui’s heartfelt apology to attempted assassin Cole regarding the past week’s treatment is precious.
Oh, the brutality of warm orange juice for the gun-toting, Trump-deranged madman.
You apologized to the gunman for what he’s been through in jail, where all protocol was followed.
What if your daughter was in the line of fire and was killed when Allen tried to commit mass murder?
You’re a disgrace to the judicial system; hopefully, your robe will soon be retired and these will be your final days on the bench.
