In Norway, Tesla had its best October on record and was the top-selling car brand, with a 9.8% market share, while Chinese brands took a record 22.5% of new passenger car registrations. In Denmark, on the other hand, Tesla's market share was 0.73%, behind BYD, Leapmotor, Xpeng and SAIC-owned MG, which each held between 1.6% and 5.5%. The rebound was aided by easier year-ago comparisons, higher fuel prices, government incentives and growing demand for EVs.
Industry analyst Felipe Munoz said Northern Europe is quite open to the new players as long as they are efficient EVs, which helped Tesla build its lead and is now helping Chinese brands gain ground. Tesla relies heavily on the Model 3 and Model Y, against rivals with broader lineups, though it said in October that it ended the third quarter with its largest order backlog in four years.
