Between August 3 and October 30, 2026, Cisco Systems (CSCO) stock lost 9.4%, while the S&P 500 was about flat. On its August 12 call, however, management forecast fiscal 2027 revenue of $72.2 billion to $73.4 billion, against $63.3 billion in fiscal 2026. Below are the events most likely to move Cisco stock over the next six months, and the first test of that forecast comes in November 2026.

Cisco reports fiscal Q1 2027 results, the first quarter of its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast

New AI design wins for Silicon One chips and optics, which management expects

AI infrastructure revenue from hyperscalers, which management projects at $7.5 billion

A slight squeeze on gross margin, with memory costs already lowering product margin

Security revenue growth, which management expects in the high single digits

Cisco's Fiscal Q1 2027 Report In November

Cisco is expected to report its fiscal Q1 2027 results in November 2026, marking the first quarter of the year that management's revenue forecast covers. In August, management guided revenue for the quarter to between $18.0 billion and $18.2 billion, against $14.9 billion in fiscal Q1 2026.

Management also said the first-quarter guide represents about a quarter of the full-year range, holding in line with its three-year average for that quarter. The November figures stand as the first read on whether the annual range holds. Within that report, total product orders are the measure to watch, having risen 35% from a year earlier in fiscal Q4 2026.

AI Infrastructure Sales To Hyperscalers

As fiscal 2027 goes on, management will update investors on orders and design wins for its sales of AI infrastructure to hyperscalers. The company projected $7.5 billion of that revenue for fiscal 2027, up from about $4 billion in fiscal 2026, and expects it to rise gradually from the first quarter to the fourth.

On the August 12 call, management also said it expected several AI design wins for its Silicon One chips and optics within six months. Hyperscaler AI orders remain the measure to watch each quarter. Cisco took $4 billion of those orders in fiscal Q4 2026 alone, reaching about as much as its revenue from these sales in all of fiscal 2026.

On the August 12 call, management told investors to expect gross margin to slip slightly through fiscal 2027 as Cisco pursues what it called very high growth opportunities. The company guided non-GAAP gross margin, its own adjusted measure, to 65% to 66% for fiscal Q1 2027. This compares with 66.3% on the same measure in fiscal Q4 2026.

Management said its non-GAAP product gross margin already fell in fiscal Q4 2026, on a higher mix of hardware and on memory costs. That margin was 64.8%, down 270 basis points from a year earlier. Cisco has raised prices on the hardware that uses the most memory, and management said customers understand the increases as an industry issue, though they do not like them. Non-GAAP gross margin will be the measure to watch in the November 2026 report.

Can You Hold Cisco Stock Through These Dates?

Shareholders who hold through these dates may sit through falls like the one they are in now. Over 103 trading sessions, the stock fell 19.6% from its close on June 4, 2026, to its close on October 30. The sharpest one-day drop in that stretch was 8.4% on August 13, the session after the fiscal Q4 2026 call.

If a repeat of that 19.6% fall would push you to sell before the next two reports, your holding is too large for these dates. At a size where you could sit through one, you can take each report as it comes and judge it on its figures.

Does This Mean You Should Act On CSCO?

Our purpose is to inform you with unique data so you make the right investment decisions. That said, betting on a single stock is always risky, no matter which direction you choose.

There is a smarter approach. Since its inception, the Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio has returned 105%, beating the benchmark that combines the three major indices - the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000. And it did so without taking the concentrated risk that comes with do-it-yourself stock picking. If that is how you want to invest, the HQ Portfolio is the place to start.
