2 teens arrested after Australian tourist allegedly stabbed, robbed of thousands in Thailand

An Australian tourist has been stabbed and robbed of thousands of dollars at a popular Thai destination.

Pattaya Police reported that an Australian man took two acquaintances to a hotel room, but the alleged encounter with his “new friends” turned into an armed robbery.

One of the offenders allegedly used scissors to stab the man in his body and shoulder, leaving him bloodied and in shock, before stealing $6,000 from him.

The Bangkok Post reported the man — named by the outlet as Alikosh Ghulam, 45 — believed the two people were women and invited them to his room on Monday.

When he realized they had transitioned, they got into an argument.

One of them allegedly pushed him into a bathroom and stabbed him before fleeing with cash.

Ghulam sought medical treatment and reported the incident to police.

Police tracked the offenders using CCTV to a luxury condominium in Pattaya and arrested two teenagers, aged 17 and 16.

Both teens allegedly admitted to the incident and were charged with armed robbery.

Police told the newspapers similar incidents were damaging Pattaya’s reputation and were difficult to prevent because they occurred inside hotel rooms.
