Hong Kong court grants bail to British man filmed wrecking airport kiosks

Youcef Bennoui, 35, charged with criminal damage and drug possession, must pay HK$5,000 and report daily to police as part of bail conditions

Youcef Bennoui, 35, was charged with criminal damage and possession of a Part 1 poison on Wednesday, after a video on social media showed him pushing over several self-check-in kiosks in the departure hall and repeatedly striking them with a stanchion.

Bennoui was arrested on Monday morning and had been held in police custody.

He was brought before West Kowloon Court on Wednesday and was not required to enter a plea before Magistrate Shirley Cornelia Hung.

The two charges allege that he damaged 10 self-check-in kiosks at aisle J, a metal display shelf, a metal stand, a glass panel and an electric baggage tractor, and was found in possession of suspected drugs.

Bennoui is required to comply with bail conditions, including paying HK$5,000 (US$640) in cash, reporting daily to a police station, and living at a fixed address.
