Angelina Jolie scores big win over Brad Pitt in Miraval legal battle

Angelina Jolie has scored a big legal win over Brad Pitt in their ongoing Château Miraval battle.

On Monday, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge decided that Pitt, 62, can’t force Jolie, 50, to turn over a set of private emails tied to the sale of her stake in the French winery, siding with the actress that the communications are protected, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

The judge denied Pitt’s motion, ruling that he “has not met his burden” to override her claim they are protected. The motion was “denied without prejudice,” meaning Pitt could raise the issue again later.

Reps for Pitt and Jolie did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The ruling marks the latest twist in the “F1” star’s long-running push to access certain communications tied to Jolie’s 2021 sale — including messages with her business team that he has argued are not protected by attorney-client privilege.

On Oct. 29, 2025, Pitt’s legal team submitted into evidence communications to and from Jolie’s team regarding her 2021 sale of her stake in the French winery the former couple co-owned.

One exhibit was a November 2023 email in which Jolie’s lawyers responded to a lawsuit from Pitt, allegedly involving millions in damages.

An October 2023 email from Jolie’s team also mentions that Pitt was “seeking ongoing damages for alleged harm to Miraval’s ongoing operations.”

At the time, Pitt argued that certain messages — including ones involving Jolie’s business team — shouldn’t be shielded and should be handed over. The actor asked the judge to force Jolie to turn over emails with her business manager, Terry Bird, her British publicists, Chloe Dalton and Arminka Helic, as well as two financial consultants.

In docs obtained by Page Six at the time, The “Fight Club” star stated that the “Girl, Interrupted” actress previously admitted in her own declaration that she regularly had conversations with Bird about “all aspects” of her business and professional life, including conversations about legal matters.

Jolie, however, maintained they were part of a legal strategy and therefore privileged.Pitt first filed a 2022 lawsuit claiming that his ex-wife had sold her share of Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group, despite a prior agreement that neither would do so unless the other person approved. Jolie denied that agreement and responded by filing a countersuit, claiming the actor-producer has been “waging a vindictive war against” her.

The “Moneyball” actor finalized his long-running divorce from the “Maleficent” star in December 2024, bringing an end to more than eight years of legal proceedings. The former couple share six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.
