Man stabbed to death in attack near heart of Times Square: cops

A 39-year-old man was stabbed to death in an attack near the heart of Times Square late Monday, cops said.

The victim was knifed in the torso and back and slashed in the face around 11:30 p.m. in front of Burger & Lobster – Bryant Park on West 43rd Street near Seventh Avenue – steps from the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, now showing Broadway’s “& Juliet,” authorities said.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The NYPD is looking for “multiple” people who fled the scene after the deadly stabbing.

The motive for the violence was not immediately known.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification, but law enforcement sources say his last known address was in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The deadly violence broke out in the confines of the NYPD’s Midtown South Precinct, where two other homicides were reported so far this year through Sunday, department data shows.

No homicides were reported during the same period in 2025.

But overall felony crime is overall down by more than 16 percent this year within the precinct’s boundaries – an area that includes Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.
