Horrific murder-suicide sees boxer, 25, gunned down by girlfriend’s jilted ex-husband

A California boxing prospect has been shot dead in a suspected murder-suicide by his girlfriend’s ex-husband.

Police say the violence unfolded around 4am Sunday at a home on the 1500 block of University Avenue in Hanford after witnesses reported a man and a woman arguing.

Cops said they heard suspect Vincent Diaz “turn a firearm on himself and die from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

After entering the home, officers safely removed a woman from the residence and conducted a protective sweep.

During that search they discovered a second man, identified as local boxing star Adrian Valdovinos, dead in a bedroom with gunshot wounds.

Investigators say Diaz was the ex-husband of the woman living at the home and had forced his way inside.

Police believe he shot Valdovinos — the woman’s current boyfriend — before taking his own life. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the department said.

The killing has devastated loved ones of Valdovinos, who was described by friends and family as a rising boxer with a bright future.

Known as “Angelo” to those close to him, he was remembered as a dedicated athlete with strong ties to the community. In the aftermath, grief and anger have surfaced online.

A woman who identified herself as Diaz’s cousin wrote in a social media post that “two families lost” in the tragedy, expressing heartbreak over the deaths.

“If u knew my Cuzn Vincent Diaz u would know he was a loving caring father that would always have his girls and he would never leave them. So none of this makes sense,” the woman said.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
