Massive 3-alarm fire rages at NYC’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre

A fire erupted at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre — the home of the hit show “The Book of Mormon” — Monday morning, according to FDNY officials.

More than 60 FDNY units and nearly 200 first responders rushed to the historic venue on West 49th Street around 10 a.m. to battle the three-alarm blaze in Midtown, a fire department spokesperson said.

No injuries were immediately reported and the effort to control the blaze was ongoing.

The theatre has hosted “The Book of Mormon” since 2011, though no shows were scheduled for Monday.

“Just loads of smoke coming out of the top, and we were asked to come out of the hotel,” tourist Matt Oakley, who was staying nearby, told CBS 2.

“Hopefully, there’s no one in there.”

Another tourist, Krissy Giffin, told PIX 11 she was told to flee her hotel that is right next to the fire.

“I threw on some clothes and ran down the stairs,” she said.
