A University of Alabama frat boy has been the center of an online frenzy after being arrested for allegedly beating up his ex-girlfriend.
And in a twist, the victim’s dad, a Long Island cop, is also facing charges after he showed up the next day to allegedly threaten his daughter’s attacker.
Ryan DellaFranco allegedly attacked his 19-year-old ex inside his off-campus Tuscaloosa apartment near the college’s Bryant-Denny Stadium, according to the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
Ryan DellaFranco, 19, has been charged after a domestic dispute last weekend, police said. Tuscaloosa Police “He slammed her head into a toilet and was over top of her choking her,” a texter, only named as Ava, claimed in a Snapchat conversation circulating on X.
“She hit him in the balls and grabbed her phone and ran away…He chased her and broke into her apartment.”
This alleged violent encounter happened on Sunday, according to Tuscaloosa police. The victim called the cops after the incident, but no arrests were made at the scene. Cops did not provide a reason.
The horrified ex-girlfriend phoned her father — a Nassau County Police Department detective — who rushed to Alabama to confront DellaFranco the very next day.
DellaFranco, 20, called the police when the outraged dad showed up on his porch and “made threats against him,” according to a police statement.
A viral video from Monday night showing a rowdy crowd of people around a house gawking as police arrived has also made its rounds online.
Once again, no arrests were made at the time.
DellaFranco, of Cumming, Ga, went home at some point after the Monday dispute — but ultimately turned himself in at the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s headquarters Tuesday.
He was charged with third-degree domestic violence and assault, and was released on $500 bond, according to police.
The Nassau County cop turned himself into the Tuscaloosa headquarters the following day. He was charged with harassment and was also released on $500 bond.
DellaFranco is seen on a coach surrounded by girls in front of a Theta Chi flag. The fraternity said he is no longer a member. Authorities wouldn’t say what caused the initial dust up between DellaFranco and his ex-girlfriend.
But according to the Snapchat messages shared online, DellaFranco was allegedly selling their sex tapes to porn sites.
When the victim allegedly found out, she confronted him and he lashed out on her, per the conversation.
DellaFranco’s frat, Theta Chi, told The Post he is not associated with them, but would not specify when his membership ended.
“Mr. DellaFranco is no longer a member of Theta Chi, and the International Fraternity is unaware of any connection between the charges against Mr. DellaFranco and any Theta Chi activity,” a spokesperson from Theta Chi’s International Headquarters said.
“The Fraternity urges anyone with information on these allegations to cooperate with law enforcement.”
Along with local police, West Alabama INTERCEPT Task Force, which handles human trafficking, is investigating.
DellaFranco, the ex-girlfriend’s father and the Nassau County Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The victim declined to comment.
