Olivia Rodrigo partners with soccer powerhouse for new jersey collaboration

Get ready for the collision of pop stardom and football royalty that we’ve all been waiting for.

Olivia Rodrigo, already a Gen Z icon, is the latest name to land on the iconic chest of an FC Barcelona kit. The club announced on Friday, that as part of an ongoing partnership with music streaming platform Spotify, that the La Liga club will wear a special edition jersey featuring Rodrigo’s unmistakable logo for their May 10th El Clasico match against Real Madrid.

Fresh off the release of her new single “Drop Dead,” and her third studio album later this year, Rodrigo couldn’t hide her excitement about the new collaboration with FC Barcelona.

“Seeing the OR [Olivia Rodrigo] on an FC Barcelona jersey for El Clasico, I don’t even know hot to process that,” said the 23-year-old pop star in a statement.

This is nothing new for Barcelona. Since Spotify became their title sponsor in July of 2022, they’ve collaborated with The Rolling Stones, Drake, Coldplay, and Travis Scott on limited edition jerseys. But Rodrigo is definitely the youngest of the bunch.

There’s also a full merchandise line; tote bags, scarves, travel mugs, t-shirts and more.

The merchandise went on sale on Friday and is available at FC Barcelona team stores, the team website, Olivia Rodrigo’s website, on Nike’s website, on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona and SNKRS.

The limited edition signed jerseys by Rodrigo and players will be available after the game, and are currently on-sale for $4,700.

“On top of that, getting to perform for the fans who’ve been listening since day one, in a city like Barcelona, is going to be so special,” Rodrigo said in the statement. “That’s everything to me. I cannot wait to see them.”

Spotify will also release a special Olivia Rodrigo-themed playlist for the match on May 10.

The match is of utmost importance for the La Liga title as well. Barcelona currently sits nine points clear atop the league with five matches left. A loss and things will heat up down the home stretch.

But now that a pop icon is stitched into the title race, hopefully it brings Barcelona good luck.

The May 10 El Clasico match kicks off at 12:00pm PT from Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain and will air on ESPN.
