Emily Blunt sparks backlash for ‘awful career advice’: ‘Out of touch with reality’

Emily Blunt is being slammed on social media for telling fans to quit their jobs and settle for making “no money.”

The “Devil Wears Prada 2” actress made the remarks in a YouTube interview with Betches, where she was asked if she has advice for “women who are hating their jobs right now.”

“Quit… no,” she said under her breath.

Blunt then laughed and added, “Just find something that you deeply want to do.”

“Even if you’re earning no money, as long as you love it, you’ll be happy,” the 43-year-old added.

Fans called out Blunt’s “awful career advice on social media,” noting that it’s easy for the actress, who is worth an estimated $80 million, to tell people to take a job that pays less.

“That can only be said by an (over)privileged person,” one fan wrote in the YouTube comments.

On X, someone tweeted, “Emily Blunt really should know better than being this tone deaf. Can rich celebrities earning millions please stop preaching to the rest of us about how unimportant money is. It’s insulting.”

Another fan said, “Genuinely terrible advice in the current job market but I would love to be this delusional and out of touch with reality.”

A different X user confessed that the Oscar nominee’s “distasteful” advice “made me think less of her.”

Somebody else slammed Blunt’s “privileged take” and noted that “not everyone has the luxury to go for the job they want and abandon the job they have now even if it sucks.”

Page Six has reached out to Blunt’s rep for comment.

Blunt has been on the press tour for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” alongside Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.

In the sequel, her character, Emily Charlton, has gone from being Miranda Priestly’s (Streep) assistant to a senior executive at Dior.

During a recent interview with “Today,” Blunt said she adores playing her “unhinged” character.

“I’m not sure that she’s softened with time,” she shared. “There will be some sort of undoing that has to happen for all of them. But I adore playing her.”

Blunt continued, “I think that she’s a complete lunatic, clearly. But I find her sort of delicious and fun. I think it’s like now, she’s sort of even more insane because she has power.”

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is in theaters on Friday.
